100 things

i keep forgetting to do these
10/18/04 ~ 3:02 p.m.

i forgot to link old entries when i posted saturday, sunday, and today! oops. so here's a catchup---

one year ago:
16th: we were playing a version called "texas hold-em", it it is much different from the five card draw i was used to. but more strategic and hence, more fun.
17th: none
18th: david got a REAL job! well, real is in, not through a temp agency. it's a call center, but it's full time and 11/hr, so all is good with us. yay.

two years ago:
16th: determination and motivation, baby.
17th: he's been in a little funk lately. kinda mad at "the man" and "the system", you know? what do we say to that? DAMN THE MAN!, of course.
18th: Your name of Holly makes you very idealistic and generous...

three years ago:
16th: but when we stop joking, we get serious. "have you ever felt so dumb in your life?" "nope. i don't like it at all." "me neither. fuck this shit."
17th: this is the kind of day i'm having: i accidentally put on navy nylons with my all black outfit.
18th: my internet usage at work has been found out, not liked, and i've been severely reprimanded for it.

the 'jennifer weiner book reading' report
10/18/04 ~ 1:41 p.m.

so last night, jenn and i drove out to lafayette for a book reading by the fabulous jennifer weiner. we left at 3:30, even though the reading wasn't until 7 pm, just in case of traffic, getting lost, etc. good thing - it took us almost 3 1/2 hours to get there! we saw 3 accidents, including one with 8 emergency vehicles and news crews, and another where a whole power line was just hanging by its wires. CRAZY. but we made it.

great thing, too, because she was hilarious. she read an excerpt from her new book, little earthquakes. then she answered questions and chatted with us and she had this witty humor about her that was fantastic. she talked some about her first two books, good in bed and in her shoes. good in bed is my favorite, and it's what got me hooked. it got optioned by HBO, but sadly, they aren't making a show out of it. they will be giving her the rights back though, so that possibly it can follow in the footsteps of her second book, which got made into a movie starring cameron diaz! check it out here: in her shoes imdb page. she said the release date is april 8, 2005.

we got our books signed, and a photo taken. someone else used thier digital to take it, cuz my shitty one was being funky, so hopefully that person will email it to me soon.

then we drove home, which only took an hour and 20 minutes. thank god.

so today, my plan of action is to read little earthquakes (i borrowed it from jenn because i'm too cheap to buy hardcover) on my lunch break and every chance i get. although tonight, i will be watching sex and the city with mariah instead. which is ok, because i love that show as much as jennifer weiner's books. :)
