day 'o relaxation / marriage

today, i am going to relax. that is the only plan until 6 pm. then, dinner at my mom's house (she's cooking david b-day dinner, isn't that cute?)
relaxing will include sunbathing, swimming, and reading. however, this reading will be in small doses because i read WAAAAAAAY too much yesterday.
i read jemima j in under 5 hours. i emerged with a large headache.
i liked it, but i did not love it. it had a good story, and it made me have reactions to it, which are things a good book does. i mean, it even made me jealous because she lost so much weight so quickly (however unhealthily). i liked the surprise twists that i couldn't see coming. i liked the morals the ending brought. but somehow, a had a bt of a bad taste in my mouth, probably because of my own weightloss struggle.
HOWEVER, i would reccommend it to people, particularly others on the weightloss journey. amy, it made me think of you... you should grab a copy.
so next, i move on to shopoholic ties the knot. i hope it doesn't get me chomping at the bit to get married.
speaking of marriage.... mike* is engaged. to his 17 yr old girlfriend. they have a date (august 12, 2004). and for some reason, while i am happy that a good friend is so happy, i am grouchy about it. i know some is jealousy... but it goes like this. i've been in a relationship longer, we're both graduating from college, it makes sense that we should get married first. but we're not going to do that for a few years, and so naturally, mike should wait for a few years too, right? WRONG. so maybe i'm just being stupid BUT they are rushing into it and she IS really young.
don't get me wrong though. it's not making me change my mind and want to get married now. nope. we've got stuff to do and money to save and we're waiting for the time to be right. and yes, that will be a few years. that's what *i* want, and it just so happens that's what david wants too. so it's all good.
