we have desks!
03/31/05 ~ 10:01 p.m.

ok, so the desk saga is now over. let's review.

this is the first post about my desk, where i speculte that i would like a new desk so i can give mine up as david's workbench.

here's where i took my desk apart and straightened the room, preparing for the new desk arrival.

and now, we have the final after AFTER pictures, brought to you straight from my new desk, wooooooo:

first, a picture of just an assembled desk:

THE FLARKE!
the flarke!
isn't it cute???

now, our new computer room setup, in all its glory!

new desks 1
see the far corner? my scrapbooking table is there now, but we measured - a double bed can fit there. we'll have a twin for a few months, but eventually my grandma will be donating a double bed for the cause.

new desks 2
we moved the little printer table thingy (it's actually a tv stand) to the far wall to make more space. plus now we're keeping some office type sutff in there because our desks have less room for clutter.

new desks 3
a close up of my desk. i'm still getting used to the whole keyboard pullout thing. never had it before. it's pretty cool. also, how do you like my desktop?

and have you ever seen my mousepad? check this action out:

anwyayZ, i am happy. woo domestic pleasures.

peace out, playas.

desk assembly is a bitch
03/31/05 ~ 11:06 a.m.

so david and i got the the task of assembling our desks last night. the uncool thing about IKEA is that full assembly is required, and the directions are confusing sometimes. we made it through the first one ok, only having to unscrew and move the track for the keyboard shelf once. it was unneccisarily complicated at times, but we did it and were stoked that the second desk would go more quickly because now we knew what to do.

WRONG.

see, the whole thing is particle board on the inside. as such, whenever big screws need to be screwed in, there are guide holes. however, on the second desk, there were no holes. david spent a good 45 minutes hammerring nails into the board to try and make the guide holes. i was falling alseep standing up, holding the board for him. eventually he decided that he NEEDS a drill to make the holes and we don't own one. so tonight we'll borrow his dad's drill set and hopefully get the second desk set up.

since we'd completely unplugged everything in the computer room and taken out the old desks, i had no computer access this morning. aaaah my email. withdrawls! guess i'll be heading to the library at lunch!

but the good side effect of clearing out that room was that david cleaned the bird poop in there. yay for small victories.

and i took a picture of the assembled FLARKE, but of course, without my computer, i can't upload it yet. hopefully tonight you'll get to see that AND the finished room.

i'm tired. and i'm out.

2004: the orthopedic doctor took about .03674 seconds to wiggle my leg and proclaim "your ACL is GONE" (because of a sports injury in may 2002) and another 5 seconds to let me know i need surgery.
2003: i have good news! got my 5 grades back. 5 classes, 19 units... it was hard and i bitched the whole way. my scores to show for it: A, B+, B+, B, B-. i am quite happy with that.
2002: "IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, ADJUDGED AND DECREED that plaintiff Holly J. K*** shall have and recover from defendant Peter M. K**** the sum of $15,539.02 plus cost of suit."
2001: tonight was an everclear concert, and i didn't go! this is the first time in about 5 years i've missed them play.
