DUDE there are like, 5 guestbook entries i never got emailed about! lame. i'm glad you guys are still writing to me, though.

good afternoon
03/19/05 ~ 4:58 p.m.

the bummer about dland being down is that i host my pictures here. so they were all broken for a day, poo on them. in fact, even before this happened, i was thinking about moving all my pictures to photobucket anyways so i won't need to pay for diaryland anymore. i'm not sure when my membership expires, but i don't think i'll renew. but transferring all the pictures could be a lengthy process!

so let's see. today is a pretty good day for a couple reasons:
1. i'm not at work
2. the fight i was having with my friend is at least 90% resolved, and that's good for now
3. poker tonight!
4. i had subway
5. now i'm reaching...

but anyways, yeah. i'm generally in a good mood.

so, my report on kareoke at a thai restuarant!

the verdict = good. but totally different than any other kareoke experience ever. here's why:

1. they are still serving dinner while kareoke goes on
2. there weren't many people there, at least not many that were participating
3. all their cocktails are made with "han", an asian rice alcohol
4. there is no stage! you write what you want to sing on a slip of paper, they come pick it up and bring you a microphone. you sing FROM YOUR TABLE. talk about much less pressure!
5. free cake! ok, maybe this was a one time thing. ;) there was a thai birthday party going on and then they served everyone there cake. but really, how awesome is that?

sabrina and i ended up going by ourselves - her boyfriend had to work early in the morning, and mine was taking a nap at 9 pm. stupid boys. david sleepily said he would come, but then after tony bailed, i would have felt bad making him. so we had a girl's night. bummer, too, because david would have LOVED the atmosphere. he likes to sing, and has a pretty good voice, but he hates getting up on stage and he hates how the crowd never likes the songs he likes to sing because they're not "dance songs" like hey ya or whatever. sabrina really liked it for the same reasons - she's got a great voice and she felt like she was able to sing better with less pressure. plus she got to pick songs she wanted to sing - she did a norah jones song, a dido song, that "what's going on?" song, and a u2 song.

now, for ME, the less crowd thing sorta fell flat. see, i'm a terrible singer. so i usually sing with a group and pick crowd favorites - like a virgin, girls just want to have fun, etc. but this time, i had to actually pick songs i thought i could do half decent on. sigh. so i did cheap trick's "i want you to want me", which i think i sucked on and it was really slow, lisa loeb's "stay", which i did pretty well on, "my girl", which had some terrible music (like a midi file) so that sucked, and "i'll stand by you" which was ok but i just don't have a good voice!

the funny thing was, sometimes the words were SOOOO off. like, i was singing "i'll stand by you" and the lyrics came up:

And when...When the night falls on you, baby
Youre feeling all alone
You wipe it at your door (should be "You wont be on your own")

hahahahahaha.

ah well. it was fun. and now that i've practically written a novel, i will go now. peace out.

after st. patty's entry
03/18/05 ~ 4:53 p.m.

(i wrote this yesterday, 3/18, so i dated it as such!)

let's see. so last night was fun, we came home to the corned beef all done in the crockpot, steamed some cabbage, and boiled potatoes. voila st. patty's dinner! i think this is david's favorite holiday - there's no presents involved, i don't get gushy, and corned beef is his favorite food!

with dinner, we watched eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. i'd seen it in the theater, but david has never seen it and i wanted to share it with him. once again, it's a brilliant film. i don't think he LOVED it, but he said it was very interesting and he enjoyed it.

today i had to get to work super early because tomorrow is the boss' birthday. we got her a matching earring and necklace set, which my coworker left in the office last night. i bought flowers and a breakfast pastry, and then decorated her office. she was surprised and loved it.

since she's out to birthday lunch with her friend, i asked if i could leave 30 min early instead of closing the office for my break. she said no problem, so that's awesome. i can do my run earlier and then shower before going out tonight. and hey, i'm on the internet and i ate at my desk. so it's not like i'm slaving away anyways.

so yeah, tonight there's supposed to be kareoke at a thai restaurant. yes, quite odd. but sabrina and i really want to check it out. i haven't talked with her, but i'm pretty sure it's still on. and we're dragging our boys as well.

tomorrow i had wanted to go out to IKEA but with everything else this weeked, that would be stressful for me and would cause david's brain to implode. so i'm putting off the desk hunt for a week. we'll just do our runs in the morning/afternoon, and then do some chores (oh dear god THE DISHES), and we have poker plans in the evening at tim's house. maybe i'll win money!

sunday both jenn and sammi are coming to visit. the only thing i know for sure is that there will be SUSHI, and lots of it. then general girliness will ensue.

no wonder i never feel rested on mondays!

alright, hope everyone else has a great weekend, and also? MAKE THE RAIN GO AWAY WAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
