more good news / a rant about the almost in-laws

major accomplishment yesterday: i pedaled on the stationary bike for 10 minutes! my knee actually bent enough to go around! and THEN the therapist had me use the leg press machine. basically, my knee is getting much, much stronger.
tonight i'm going to try driving. he says that if i'm comfortable with it, i can start driving myself to sessions. which is GOOD because david's family is driving me nutso.
sure, it's nice that they are helping me out, but WHY does david's mom and sister need to hang out on MY couch and watch MY movies while david's dad drives me? can't they just stay home?? i feel very invaded when they do that. but i can't really say anything, either.
they're pissing david off as well, because they do chores arond the house and then hound him becuase he should be doing them. while i agree that i would be nice if he kept up on the dishes and laundry while i'm out of commission, they are going a bit over the top. yesterday, while cleaning the kitchen, they found the remnants from the poker game: about 8 shotglasses and a half-empty jar of whiskey. i wasn't there to defend david (i was hiding from them in the bedroom), so they left a note:
"he who works at washing dishes
won't have time to drink like fishes"
so yeah, now they think he's an alcoholic and they called yesterday to give him hell. he told me that he almost told them off, but it's possible i might need them again this week. i hope not.
and since i'm already ranting, i'll go one step further: on saturday, david's company is having it's summer picnic at marine world. i'm planning on going, but i will need a wheelchair because while i'm healing pretty well, i would not be able to walk all around a large amusement park. so i was going to use david's grandmother's chair. then david's mom threw a fit because SHE wants to use the chair, since, you know, she's a hypochondriac and very overweight and has [tyoe 2] diabetes and yada yada yada.
hello???? i fucking had KNEE SURGERY.
i felt like she was disrespecting the fact that i had a major operation. anyways, come to find out, grandma's chair doesn't even have foot rests, so i have to rent one from marine world anyways. and then david's company changed the rules and only significant others and kids are supposed to come anyways. so i was hoping they were all uninvited, but david got given 4 tickets (instead of the 5 he asked for), so he's still giving them 2 free tickets. after much discussion, they decided that david's mom isn't going to go because she'd be uncomfortable anyways. (READ: she'd be a pain in the ass.)

oh, and don't mind me and all my bitching, i'm just PMS-y and found out that i've gained a few pounds since surgery since all i do is lay around. i'll get over it.
