100 things

the georgia trip
04/06/01 - 04/16/01 ~ 12:10 p.m.

hi everyone, hope you missed me. here's my challenge: i want to tell you about my week but keep it short enough that you'll read it. let's see how well i do:

FRIDAY

i was on the plane all day. because of the time change, i left here at 12:15 and got there at 10pm. the first flight was a little bumpy (my juice flew off the tray when we went over a tornado in texas) but fine. ned and i went to his sister's house, slept on the floor.

SATURDAY

we got up and got my rental car (which was a pain in the ass. i hate not being 21. but they finally gave it to me. i got a 2000 neon.) we drove out to stone mountain, which was really really cool. it was started by the same guy that did mt. rushmore. there was a lot of southern history there. we did everything- monorail, train, hiked down the mountain, had southern buffet, and a laser/fireworks show.

SUNDAY

we walked around georgia tech and ned showed me all the buildings. i was wearing bad shows and i got a HUGE blister. my heel WAS a blister. it sucked. then we went to centennial park, with was made for the '96 olympics. i took lots of statue pictures. that night we saw jay mohr do a comedy act. he was fucking hilarious. i love the guy (he's in go!, playing by heart, jerry maguire, picture perfect, and suicide kings). then we went and met my pen pal. she's so cool.

MONDAY

i spent the day hanging out with my pen pal (jen) and her friend (ian). we went to lunch and hung out until ned was out of class. then the 4 of us went to the underground (an underground mall thingy). it's in the heart of downtown, and me, being the naive, un-street smart white girl that i am, was a little intimidated. LOTS of african-american peeps. We ordered in chinese food that night and watched a league of their own. my pen pal is the COOLEST. we are so alike and got along totally well. i can't wait to see her again. and meet her adorable little daughter too.

TUESDAY

tuesday we didn't do much. ned mad a morning class, then we hung around his dorm room, watching simpsons episodes. we went to an angie aparo concert afterwards. surprisingly, he was REALLY good. he had a good personality too. fun stuff.

WEDNESDAY

we slept in really late., ned went to class and i chilled at the hotel, and we spent the night hanging with his friend randy and his girlfriend erica. we went to a brewery and had a beer sampler, and then hung out at randy's apartment, watched south park and enjoyed some mary jane.

THURSDAY

ned and i slept in a little, and he had to go to his dorm room and do homework. i read heartbreaking work of staggering genius for 2 hours. that's all i've read so far (sorry jeffy, i love it but i didn't have too much time). ned went to class, and i checked email and stuff. unless he covered his tracks VERY well, he didn't see this site. nevertheless, password is still on. then after ned's class we went out to a nice dinner (indian food-very yummy) and a movie (enemy at the gates (ok, maybe 2.5 stars).

FRIDAY

we went to waffle house (i got smothered and covered! yay!) and then i went to 2 of ned's engineering classes. then we did some errands, called randy, and met up with them. we ate mexican food, went to a movie (blow- 3 stars. good stuff). we returned to randy's place, sat outside drinking beer, and this random guy named jack came down the hill looking for a plunger, sat and smoked with us for a while, went back and plunged, and came back to hang some more. random people are good.

SATURDAY

we got up semi-early and checked out of the hotel. we went to the world of coke- pretty cool. some coca-cola (TM) products from around the world are pretty gross. then we returned the car and hung out at jody's house (ned's sister). she wasn't there, we ordered pizza, and watched WAY too much tv.

SUNDAY

we slept in till noon, and went out to an easter lunch at a steakhouse. jody drove us to the airport, and i finally faced ned with an actual, point-blank, "State of the Union" discussion. i let him know that i needed to know what he was feeling, what he wanted, and all that. i also told him, 4 months is a long time (his next visit would be in august) and it's only really worth it if we are going to be an actual full-fledged committed relationship that is going somewhere. i told him it was more up to him cuz i knew i could hold up my end of that type of relationship (though, looking at it, i wasn't as happy as i should be). he didn't like talking about it, but i forced him to admit that he doesn't see us as a serious relationship. so i said, ok, then we'll end it. and at the same time as sadness came, so did relief. it's better this way (though the tears in my eyes may have made him believe i feel otherwise). but i know we'll be cool. cuz i'm like that, i keep friendships up. and, like he said, who knows? he'll be back in CA most likely when he graduates, and if we are right for each other at that time, so be it. intellectually, we're a great match. physically, kinda. enough, but not like "i have to have you NOW" kind of thing. sexually, we're very compatible. we had many good times. but emotionally, he doesn't satisfy me at all. and i need that.

so here's to being single again, where i can find someone who will satisfy me in all ways, not just a few. let the quest begin! (can some hotties just fall into my lap now please???)

now it's monday, i'm back at work, and i'm about to leave for lunch. hope this wasn't tooooo long!!!
