tell me a love story

the lovely kristin posted a request in her LJ that i loved, and i want to post it in mine to hear all of your responses. she asked for everyone to tell a story of how a couple met - it could be a story about you and a current or past love, the story of your parents, grandparents, anyone. it can be as long as you want, just let it be.
to start you off (and be warned, this is LONG), i present:
