poker madness and a possible new friendship

well, it's monday again. sigh. i'm tired but yet... it's not hitting me. it's odd. i got up far too early and stayed up far too late all weekend. plus i ate greasy foods, which makes you tired as well. last night, i wasn't in bed until after midnight on a school work night!
so i was all set to need coffee this morning. i awoke with a bit of a sleep deprivation headache, but that went away on it's own. i never got coffee and i'm doing fine. i'm sure i'll crash and burn tonight.
chris* threw an impromptu poker night at his house last night. 10 players showed up! we paid $3 each to play, and the top 3 places won money. i came in 3rd, so i won $5. yay me. i've come in 2nd, 2nd, and 3rd the last three times i've played, so i'm pretty happy with that.
however, i wasn't confident enough to enter into a tournament at sonoma joe's (a poker/blackjack casino in town). it had a $20 buy in, and you could get more chips for $10. most people ended up putting in $50. i wasn't ready to risk that much. there were 50 players total. david went out at about 30th, chris came in 16th, and tim* came in 2nd! it was semi-bittersweet because he was in 1st for a long time and ended up getting overtaken. he still won over $300 though.
so basically, yesterday was a poker-fest of huge proportions.
saturday i spent the morning watching sex and the city with cam* and sabrina, and the afternoon at my boss' party. the party was fun, but slightly boring since i didn't know half of the 100 people there. two of my coworkers came - jen (with her husband and 1 year old daughter) and beth (with her boyfriend). david agreed with my opinion that beth is pretty cool (see this entry), and i thinks i should hang out with her outside of work. he even got her numbers for me. he's so cute. but i'm glad he did that, because she doesn't have a lot of friends around here and we get along really well.
alright, the boss will be back from lunch soon, so i'm going to skidaddle. cheerio!
