100 things

21st century digital boy
10/24/04 ~ 8:36 a.m.

friday night david and i drove to sacramento to watch my brother joe* play in his high school's homecoming football game. they lost hardcore. but joe, who is a right guard in the offensive line, played well. basically, the quarterback and the center sucked, and the defense seemed to think watching instead of playing was the way to go. the highlight of the night was when my paper cup of diet soda and my glove-covered hands ended up at odds with each other, which resulted in a lap full of sticky cold liquid. fun. at leat i had my mom around to do the laundry.

yesterday morning david did a major overhaul on my mom's computer and put in a new hard drive. while the recovery disks we running, we took my other brother, chad*, to best buy so we could mooch off of his employee discount. david had been longing for a new TV, one which wasn't from the 70's and perhaps showed the whole picture instead of cropping the sides. he came away with a toshiba flat screen and saved $80, thanks to chad.

earlier this year, when we got the entertainment center, i took before and after pictures. now the 'after' picture has become the before picture:

the old tv. notice it's ancient-ness, and also how small it is in that space.

woo! check out how it just barely fits. the picture is SO much nicer now. wow, i really need to organize all that crap on top, huh?

but the most exciting thing happened after david picked out his new TV. he bought me an early birthday/christmas present. i am bursting with joy because it's something i've wanted for so long.

it's the canon power shot S410!!!!! look how tiny it is!

it has SO MANY features. ones that are way over my head because i'm no professional photographer.

i'm ecstatic. i can't believe it. no one has ever bought me a gift like this. it was expensive, spur of the moment, and something i've been pining after for years. it's a far cry from that old, taped up camera i've been using (see this entry).

david is so wonderful. he made me feel like a princess. he loves me so much. i think i'll keep him. :)

one year ago: then i start floating around from office to office, hopefully securing a permanent position by mid-december.
two years ago: now maybe it's because i didn't see the movie as a young girl, but i think the message it portrays is simply horrible: "girls, you have to change to keep the boy you like."
three years ago: i'm still going to GA for thanksgiving.
