a math riddle

got a riddle for ya. i just love driving you all nuts!! i'll post the answer in a day or two. if you think you know the answer, tell me!

two mathemeticians meet on the street. they haven't seen each other in a few years. one asks, "how are you? how are your sons? you have three right? i'm sorry, but i have forgotten their ages."
"yes, I do have three sons," replies the other. "here are some clues to figure it out. the product of their ages is equal to 36. the sum of their ages is equal to today's date."
he thinks for a minute and then responds, "i still cannot figure out the ages of your sons."
the first one says, "oh yes, my youngest son has red hair."
"oh, yes, now i know!" replies the second one.
