the list of stress

we got a washer and dryer! they'll be delivered on saturday. woo.
but really, both david and i are a little stressed out (ok, he's a lot stressed out).
he made a list of the things on his mind. it's pretty freakin' long. but first and foremost is this stupid phone situation.
see, here's the deal. david called pacbell, got a phone number. wed night, we check... no phone. he calls back, thay say "check ALL phone jacks in house." we do, we find that one out of four works... the living room.
that's bad because we need the dsl in the computer room and a phone in the kitchen. we DON'T need crazy phone cords everywhere so we can trip and break our noses. they should all work, you know?
david then uses his super mad circuit and wiring skills to mess with the other jacks. nothing was working. then he proceeded to go under the house, climb crazy ladders way in the sky, and do all that i talked about before. still no phone.
david calls pacbell. for them to come out, it's $120 for the first jack, $40 for each other jack. that's $200 to get fixed. bullshit.
so last night david called our landlord's husband, collin. keep in mind that this guy BUILT the house. you'd think he'd be able to look at the wires. but no. instead, he's all old and senile, yells at david about how we should need two lines for our computer (he doesn't get the DSL concept) but says he'll pay for it IF david promises that we will never, EVER need two phone lines. david promises.
so he calls this morning at 7:20. tells us that he wants our neighbor (construcion worker, ex-computer guy doug) to try and fix it. david never told collin that he'd already tried (to avoid more senile old guy wrath), so we say ok. we'll ask doug tonight.
by 8:30 am, i have two voicemails on my cell phone from collin. the first one is giving us doug's phone #. the sencond is asking AGAIN that we call him back.
so david calls collin back, leaves a message for doug, and all should be well.
but still. we have a slight hunch that doug will make the same discoveries that david did. the house is OLD. it's wired FUNKY. it will need pacbell and maybe even an electrician to fix.
sigh.
it's sad because collin's wife, helen, is a totally sweet lady. if we'd only gotten her when david first called. if only.
so that's item #1 on the list. the list reads something like this:

Switch over addresses (bank, etc)
Paycheck & Direct Deposit
Pay for School ($183 per person)
go to bank
etc, etc, etc. there's more stuff but i deleted a lot of it.
when we're all caught up on everything, i think i'll take a week long nap.
