weekend in livermore
09/25/00 ~ 10:17 pm

so i went to livermore this weekend. i almost consider it my 'hometown' even though i only went to high school there. the population is skyrocketing there. all these gated communities are popping up, there are now 500 people in each class instead of 300 like my class, there are new stoplights everywhere, etc., etc. anyways...

i love it there.

i had a great time. the wolitzer family never disappoints at dinner. great food, embarrassing conversation, lots of laughing. ned came with me, so he got to be privy to all the fun. the weekend's events:

friday- drove down after work. ned played metallica the whole way. not my first choice, but ok. we went to visit dan (my old neighbor) first. he was leaving for UCLA on saturday, and it was my last chance to see him. dan, just wanted to let you know... i love you. =) then we went to amy's house. jeanie (her mom) made one of her famous dishes- 'gross stuff' (a mexican casserole basically). the dinner table was packed- me, ned, amy, alex, sera, ryan, justine, chris, suzy, jeanie, and don. after a thoroughly amusing dinner, amy, alex, ned, and i watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. weird, weird drug movie. i think that without any drugs yourself, this movie is not able to be understood. ned and i slept on the floor, and despite any of your ideas that we were getting it on, i wouldn't have done that on amy's floor.

saturday- we rose at 10 am. i called my friend justin, who is so fabulous that i have to make sure i visit him every time i am near the bay area. we (ned, amy, j, and i) went to breakfast with him, and then hung out and talked. after he left, we all had a lazy afternoon. amy went on a hike, ned and i watched Go and the olympics, and j and chris just kinda hung out. when amy got back, we drove out to berkeley for the concert. we didn't have tickets, didn't know exactly where we were going, and we were intending to meet 2 friends 'in front' of the theater. it all worked out, and i even got a ticket for under face value. however, i didn't get as good a deal as our friend christie, who managed to get 2 tickets for $24 (well, one free and one for $24). face value was $34.50!!! we went in so late we got kinda bad seats- but not that bad of a view. live kicked SO much ass. ed sure has stage presence. he was dressed like he belonged in a boy band, but his music did not disappoint. my only complaint would have been that they now have enough albums to play all singles in their set, which they almost did. the coolest thing was adam from counting crows came out and sang with ed on 'dolphins cry'. they are buddies and it's so cute! then counting crows played. they were good...but i was starting to get bored by the end. i'm happy to have seen them, but not too enthusiastic about their performance.

sunday- rose at 10 am again. we ate, took showers, packed, and hit the road. i took amy back to davis, where we visited stefanie (one of astrid's roommates) for awhile. then ned and i headed home. there was supposed to be a surprise thing for lisa, but it got canceled. it's now going on tomorrow. then my mom and i went shopping and watched a movie together. which brings me to now, where i just watched an american win the women's diving.

sorry for the extensive boring-ness of this entry =)
