not very good detectives...
10/07/01 ~ 11:22 a.m.

how many of you were crossing your fingers? cuz last night did some serious ass sucking.

so.... justin left and jenn and i set out for san jose at 7:30. i left one paper at home, so i had to stop at a kinko's and pay to use their internet. 4 dollars later, we were on our way to his house.

we finally found the tiny court, and pulled up to a dark house. we rang the doorbell, knowcked, etc. no answer.

we snuck around the back of the house and it was totally dark and scary. nothing.

so we're kinda hanging out, wondering what to do, when a neighbor comes out of the garage. i go up to him and ask him some questions. this is what i discovered:

"hi, do you know these neighbors?"

"not really, i've seen them before though."

"did they move out this weekend?"

"no, they moved like 2-3 months ago. it's been vacant since then. it was a couple, with a baby, right?"

"yeah, that's my dad. i'm trying to find him. shit."

"well, if you can get ahold of the landlord for that house, i think they owe her money."

"yup. definately my dad. thanks though."

so basically, he's nowhere to be found. dissapeared. and i have 12 days now to serve him with these papers or my case could be dropped.

suing your dad is so much fun. you should all try it.

especially since i have so much time to spare, what with my job and classes (that i have no idea what the professers are talking about) and homework and stuff. shit.

the upside of the evening was i got to make a stop in livermore and go to amy's house. it was a party, cuz justine and one of her santa cruz roomates were there for the weekend, plus amy's boyfriend and justine's other friend, not to mention the parents and sister that live there. we hung out and chatted until amy went to sleep. then justine, jenn and i went to kinko's so i could photocopy some of amy's pictures.

you know how kinko's is open 24 hours? not this one. they closed at 10:30. we got there at 11:30. the super-nice guy still let us in, copied my pictures for me, and didn't even charge me. it's good to know there are genuinely nice people out there still.

jenn and i returned home at 1:30 (and then she had another 1/2 hour to get home from here). and now i am awake, still tired, and have buttloads of homework to do. hopefully i'll be able to stay away from my compuer long enough to get work done. wish me luck.
