thinking about weddings

i have weddings on the brain. and it's easy to see why. here's a quick list, off the top of my head, of things that are making me think of weddings:
- my friend sarah is getting married sept 24th
- that college pal i re-connected on friday is engaged, and they are getting married next year. they started dating a few months before david and i!
- brooke and robert are fast approching their 3 year anniversary, and robert said it's time they start looking at rings together
- my coworker beth and i talk about it all day because she wants to be engaged by the time she graduates next year
- on my diaryland buddy list, moresarah is engaged, fat-to-thin is a newlywed, a member of the spark got married this weekend, and cubabuddha's mom just got engaged
- two other non-diaryland weightloss diary writers got married recently (aicha and heather)
- kristi is in her friend's wedding later this year
- i've been finding old classmates on friendster, and two of them are married
- sabrina went to two weddings this month
- sammi talks about it from time to time, because her and bobby will get married someday
- my anniversary was this weekend, and we visited the beach we want to get married at, and we talked about how the weather was actually nice (it's a cold beach) and david seems keen on the idea
and that's just off the top of my head! it's wedding season, i'm 23 and in a relationship that is headed for marriage, and i'm ready to start planning my own. so, this weekend, i spent about 2 hours reading websites and message boards about how to plan a beach wedding. i found some good info, and i bookmarked it all. plus some sites with engagement rings i like.

but see! we're 99.99% sure we'll get married on the weekend closest to our anniversary, on one of the beaches in bodega. and i don't know anyone who's planned a wedding there, or on any beach without an attached building, for that matter. i don't know exactly what kind of dress i'll want, what david should wear, what the bridemaids & groomsmen should wear, WHO will even BE the bridesmaids and groomsmen, etc, etc, etc.
but do i even need to be worrying about this now?? NO!!! i'm not engaged yet. i made david promise he'll wait until i'm at goal weight before he proposes anyways. plus he will need to save money, and so will i, because we'll be paying for everything ourselves. theoretically, my fantasy is for him to propose in dec 05, and we'll get married july '06. we'll have been together 4 years at that point, and we'll both be 25, and i think that's a good age. so i need to cut this shit out, at least for another year, year and a half. i'm such a freak!
or maybe not. maybe i'm just SUCH A GIRL.
all i'm saying is, brooke needs to get engaged soon, because if i can help her plan her wedding, then that will be a good outlet for all of these thoughts.
hoepfully i'm not alone in this. any of you out there closet wedding freaks?
